Susan was born and raised in Newcomerstown, graduated from Newcomerstown High School, and attended Kent State University. She and her husband Randy have been married for fifty-two (52) years and have a son, a daughter and 6 grandchildren. Susan and Randy moved from Newcomerstown in 1971, but knew they wanted to return after retirement. Susan & Randy are members of Christ United Methodist Church where Susan serves as Staff and Parishes Relations Committee and was recently appointed District Lay Leader for the Three Rivers District of East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. Additionally, Susan was appointed to the Village of Newcomerstown Planning Commission and has served as secretary since 2021.
Susan was employed by CSPA, in Washington, DC, for twenty-five (25) years and retired as the Executive Director of the Research & Regulatory Management Council (RRMC) in June 2015. Her experience includes directing the efforts of fifty (50) joint ventures and task forces involving various consumer product categories. The cooperative research projects developed data and/or addressed industry issues involving insect repellents, antimicrobials, insecticides, aerosol products, and exposure initiatives designed to address exposure to active ingredients and the use of consumer products. She was responsible for coordinating technical support for each group, facilitating member communications, managing contracts, and overseeing the financial administration. She also interfaced on behalf of members with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other federal, state, and international health and regulatory agencies.
