There's a rich history of art in this valley, there was a popular group called the "Sweetheart Follies" that many still remember. With that idea in mind, there are live theater productions at the schools and also at ARTSNCT. ARTSNCT is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing all forms of visual and performing arts to Newcomerstown and the surrounding tri-county area. The center is 100% volunteer operated and managed, supported by private donations. There are classes for children and gallery evenings for artists. There are various events every year in the village, including Cy Young Days, Second Saturdays, Homecoming Parades and Christmas Parades and tree lighting ceremonies.
There are two museums full of Newcomerstown's vast history as well. The Temperance Tavern is an authentic inn dating back to 1841 and has many original fixtures. The Olde Main Street Museum houses many items from Cy Young and Woody Hayes' life in Newcomerstown as well as some of their baseball memorabilia. Both museums are located on Canal Street in Newcomerstown. (740) 498-7735
Living HereNewcomerstown has always been a small, close-knit community. Our members have various active organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Library, Newcomerstown Booster Club, Newcomerstown Historical Society, Cy Young Days Festival Committee and Newcomerstown NOW, just to name a few. It's not uncommon that you'll see business owners on Main Street bringing each other coffee or waving at each other. Our population might be small, but we are one of the largest villages in Ohio. The cost of living and doing business is lower compared to our neighbors and the placement of our little town is a great opportunity. We are located just off of I-77 and SR 36, nestled right between New Philadelphia, and Coshocton, making it a perfect area for commerce.
Newcomerstown is a rural town with many rolling hills spread out around it. The Tuscarawas River runs right through the town and lends many beautiful scenic trails. Among these trails is the Simonds-Heller Park and Boat ramp. This nature park is placed on part of what used to be the Heller/Simonds File Company after the demolition of the long abandoned factory site. There are big big plans for the area that housed the factory and main office. There are many easy-to-walk trails through the park
