Craig Kennedy was hired at the Council meeting as Newcomerstown’s Chief of Police on March 3, 2025. Chief Kennedy has been working with Stark County Sheriff’s Office as Deputy Sheriff for 25 years. Upon hiring, Kennedy was a Lieutenant at the Sheriff’s Office; his role was to manage personnel, budgets, training and operations planning. He was also the Agent in charge of the Stark County Metro Narcotics Unit. He has experience in organizing task forces, hand has been recognized through the Ohio Task Force Commanders Association. He has certifications in various courses such as homicide investigation, interviews and interrogation, peace officer training, and a unit instructor to name a few. Chief Kennedy’s hometown is Newcomerstown; he has stated his excitement to return to his roots and serve the community in our Village with his knowledge and experience.
